Our Story

Harvest Heights Assembly began in 1972 with just 3 men, one from each city of the Tri-Cities. This small group saw a city growing around them that was in need of another church body to share the hope & love of Jesus Christ. They found a non-denominational pastor who grew up a small congregation, but the church struggled when he left. In 1974 just 6 members remained.

Within a few short months, they invited Paul and Margaret Hamar to serve as pastors of their new congregation. Soon after, they began renting a church building on Canal and Edison in Kennewick. Central Assembly of God soon grew from home missions to a sovereign church, becoming the fourth existing Assembly of God church in the Tri-Cities. It thrived for several years in that location, but the need arose to find a permanent home for the growing congregation.

In 1980, property was purchased on Locust Grove Road. Constructing the building through time and skills of the congregation members themselves, the first service was held in the building in 1983. At that point Central Assembly was renamed Harvest Heights Assembly of God.

Since then, there have been three building additions, many wonderful families, leaders, and staff whom God has brought to be part of the body and in some cases moved on again. Kennewick has expanded south to within a mere mile of the present building. Over the years, there have been families restored and bodies healed, leaders and pastors released into ministry, children who have grown up to serve the Lord and start their own families, and countless individuals who have been transformed by the wonderful power of Jesus Christ. And that is what continues to happen every time we gather to proclaim the name of Jesus...that is what HHAG is all about!
